Digitalization in Surgery:
The Role of VR/XR Improving Healthcare
Given the current innovative advancement and growth across the global healthcare systems, digital technologies are changing approaches toward surgeries in terms of accuracy, time, and effectiveness. The concepts of technology implementation in surgeries are starting to become a trend but as a change that is set to define the future of surgeries. At RoT STUDIO, we are on the brink of this revolution by deploying the modern technology of virtual reality (VR) and the more comprehensive extended reality (XR) to advance surgical training and simulations.
Surgical practices have evolved over the years as the level of fluency and dexterity in handling surgical instruments has increased. This type of training has long depended on practice instructional modeling and observation acumen, which is time-consuming and expensive. They include overreliance on conventional methods of training, lack of investment in new technologies as well as a lack of integration of digital technologies in training. Technology has advanced to the level where doctors or surgeons could, for example, practice delicate operations in simulated conditions, using virtual scenarios that simulate real-life surgeries.
